A static recompilation of Skyrim (2011) for Android devices.

About The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

This is an unofficial native Android port of the original 2011 PC version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (not Special Edition). It is a static recompilation: the PC game's executable and a few of its libraries are converted to ARM code rather than run in an emulator. Direct3D 9 is translated to Vulkan with a patched dxvk-native, and SDL2 handles the window, input and audio.

It should run on any arm64 phone with Vulkan 1.1 and was tested on a Snapdragon device with an Adreno 610 GPU. A launcher offers the PC game's detail presets (Low by default), resolution scaling down to 108p, optional on-screen touch controls and a Nintendo button layout option. The repository contains no game code or data: you need your own copy of the PC game.

Skyrim was developed by Bethesda Game Studios and released in 2011. It is one of the best-selling role-playing games of all time.

How to play The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

  1. Open the source repository and check its Releases page for a ready-made build for your system.
  2. Dump the game from a disc or cartridge you own. Recompilations need the original data and do not include it.
  3. Run the recompiled program and point it at your game file when it asks.
  4. Check the README for graphics and input options. Most recomps let you change resolution, frame rate and controls.

Tips

  • Start on the Low preset; it is the default and what an Adreno 610 handles.
  • Lowering the resolution in the launcher is the quickest way to raise the frame rate on weaker phones.
  • A Bluetooth controller works better than the on-screen buttons.
